The children at Duchal are always having fun, learning through play in our great facilities:

The children enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Dazzle Dance Studio in Greenock recently.

There was alot of jumping, dangling, balancing, fun and concentration going on when Duchal visited the dance studio, lots of acrobatic fun was had!!

Here at Duchal we are always looking to support others and in particular local charities.

At Christmas we held our magical sunset concert with some festive carols sung by the children and the local Kilmacolm Children's Choir - Angel Voices.  This was to raise money on behalf of Yorkhill Children's Charity.  We are delighted that we were able to raise much needed funds for this amazing facility.

Another charity close to our hearts is Finding your Feet and we were delighted to have a visit from Ashley who gave a really informative talk to the children, Ashley Reid asked the children all the things they could do with their arms and legs then explained to the children about others who through illness or injury had lost a limb and how her charity ’Finding your feet’ helped these people get prosthetic limbs in order to do ‘normal’ activities.. The children were engrossed and saw pictures of a young girl riding a bike with a prosthetic leg, a young boy swimming who had no legs but had prosthetic legs with flippers. This was all the more interesting that they could have a pink princess leg or a minion arm.

Duchal Nursery is set in wonderful surroundings and we really make the most of it when the weather allows - snow or shine!!!

It's been a while but at last the sun has shone - so we quickly made the most of it!!

Our Pre-School children have been having a great time in our quiet room concentrating on more detailed work in preparation for primary education next year.  It's great to be able to have a seperate space without the distractions of more active play going on around them.

We are delighted to let you know that we raised a wonderful £257 for Macmillan Cancer Support through our coffee mornings last week.  The children had a great time hosting their guests at the Duchal Cafe!

The childern enjoyed a wonderful trip to Fruin Farm in Helensburgh this week getting up close to Alpacas and Llamas!!

We've been having lots of fun at the start of this session experimenting with different paint mediums - the shaving foam was a great hit!

Enjoying that moment of summer!

It was fantastic to be able to enjoy the few days of summer last week in our wonderful garden......

Amazing kids and technology!

We have been delighted how the children have taken so easily to our new e-learning resource "Education City".  Using the interactive white board the children take part in interactive and fully animated activities which are bright and colourful, the activities engage children and reward their achievement. They absolutely love it and don't realise how much they are learning at the same time!!

Getting Ready for School

With the summer term flying by we are busy preparing our older children for starting their primary education.  With our lovely quiet room we are lucky to have a seperate area for our older ones to have time apart to get ready for school!

Celebration Time!

It's always nice to celebrate special occasions in Duchal - whether it be a birthday and the donning of the birthday hat or the emergence of your very own butterfilies!!!

Life at Sea - Lifeboats

The children were excellent this morning as they listened to a very detailed and informative talk on safety at the seaside and at sea from "the Lifeboat Lady"

"Shiver me Timbers"

We had a brilliant morning dressed as pirates helping raise funds through the toddle waddle for the amazing Barnado's

Footballers of the Future?

Through the Greenock Morton Community Trust in partnership with the Early Years Quality Improvement Management Team we had a fantastic football taster session for all the children at nursery.  This partnership aims to encourage children to choose exercise as a healthy way of life. It was so successful we have a weekly session planned for the rest of the summer term.

Our Blue Teddies have been working hard preparing for school - lots of fun with Jolly Phonics!

Working in small groups in our seperate quiet room is the perfect environment for developing our skills before heading for primary school.

We all live in a yellow submarine.....

We've had lots of fun in our latest addition to the nursery - our own yellow submarine - perfect for great imaginary play.

Chinese New Year!  Messy fun with chopsticks

Challenging .... messy..... fun learning!!!

We were delighted to have had a visit from our local community police officer to help us with our "People that Help Us" topic

With great outdoor space on our door step we've been making the most of the winter wonderland outside.....
