
Early Years Practitioner Person Specification
Qualifications:
Essential:
Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC as a practitioner
HNC in Childhood Practice SCQF Level 7 or equivalent
PVG Membership
Desirable:
Childhood Practice at SCQF Level 9
First aid qualification
Food and Hygiene Certificate
Knowledge/Skills/Understanding:
Essential:
Experience and working knowledge of Food and Hygiene qualification, Setting the Table and relevant Early Years Guidelines
Ongoing engagement with appropriate professional development training
Ability to work as an effective team member and to contribute to a positive working environment
Ability to form positive relationships with the nursery’s parents, carers and children
Ability to demonstrate a high level of adherence to the SSSC Codes of Practice and other legislative requirements
Desirable:
Willingness and ability to deputise for the Head Teacher and Deputy Head if neither are available
Ability to be a flexible and adaptable team player
Previous Experience:
Essential:
Experience of working with children aged 3-5 in a nursery setting
Experience of preparing snacks and lunches to children within a nursery setting
Desirable:
Interest in contributing to the local community
